Giko Health Post: Bringing Healthcare Closer to the Community
Giko Health Post was built by Health Builders in 2022 and officially started operating in February 2023. It is open 3 days every week, providing outpatient care to the local community with just one dedicated nurse. Despite its small setup, the health post has made a remarkable impact on 5,225 people residing in Giko Cells and others from neighboring villages.
Through March 2025, Giko Health Post conducted 5,493 outpatient consultations, including 1,033 children under five years old. That’s an average of 41 children every month. These young children received vital health services such as vaccinations, growth checks, and treatment for common illnesses, giving them a healthier start in life.
The health post also served 4,460 adults, an average of 178 adults every month, offering primary medical care for common illnesses. For many in the community, Giko Health Post is their only option for accessible healthcare.
Empowering Through Health Builders
The achievements at Giko Health Post would not have been possible without the unwavering support of Health Builders. Through consistent training and hands-on guidance, Health Builders has played a critical role in supporting Giko Health’s staff and operations.
The nurse at Giko Health Post has benefited from tailored mentorship programs focused on enhancing clinical skills, patient care, and effective service delivery. This support goes beyond just medical knowledge, it includes resource management, community outreach, and efficient record-keeping.
Because of our mentorship, Giko Health Post has been able to deliver high-quality care smoothly and effectively even with limited personnel. It all goes to show that strong partnerships and proper training can bridge gaps in healthcare access.
Additionally, Health Builders has facilitated connections with local health authorities, ensuring that Giko Health Post remains aligned with national health standards and community health needs. This partnership not only strengthens the clinic’s capacity but also builds trust within the community, encouraging more people to seek care at Giko Health Post.
Looking to the Future: Growing with the Community
The demand for health services at Giko Health Post continues to rise as more community members rely on its vital care. To sustain and expand its impact, there is an urgent need to expand the health post.
The proposed expansion would provide more space for patient care and reduce wait times. It would also allow for the introduction of essential services such as maternal health, family planning, and management of chronic illnesses like hypertension and diabetes.
A larger facility would also create opportunities for new programs focused on preventative care, health education, and community wellness initiatives. This would empower community members to take charge of their health and reduce preventable diseases.
With the right support, Giko Health Post could become a central hub for primary healthcare, serving as a model for community-based health solutions. You can help today by making a tax-deductible donation!
