Rugerero Health Center is Now Open!

The Rugerero Health Center is now fulfilling its original purpose, to serve all the population of Rugerero Sector.

The Rugerero Health Center construction was completed in August 2018. However, due to the emergency of the Ebola Outbreak in a neighboring country, the facility was repurposed to serve as an Ebola Transit Center by the Ministry of Health. Unfortunately, just as Ebola was no longer a danger in the region, the COVID-19 pandemic created an urgent need for dedicated treatment facilities, so the center shifted focus to serve these patients in March of 2020.

Now, as the COVID-19 cases continue to decline, the Rugerero Health Center is now fulfilling its original purpose, to serve all the population of Rugerero Sector. As of April, it is offering the basic primary health care, including curative, preventive, promotional, and rehabilitation services, to 43,200 people including children, women, and men.
