Patient Testimonial: Confidence in Care at Bigogwe Health Center

Meet Mukamugema Desange, a 31-year-old mother who had just given birth to a healthy baby girl on June 20th, 2025. Desange had attended her antenatal care appointments at Kora Health Center, located closer to her home. However, when it was time for delivery, she made the decision to come to Bigogwe Health Center, a choice driven by the trust and confidence she has  in the quality of care provided there.

She arrived at the facility at 7:00 PM, joining eight other women also waiting to deliver. Despite the late hour and the number of patients, the two nurses on duty attended to each woman with efficiency and care. Those ready for delivery, including Desange, were admitted to the waiting room, where they received close monitoring and support throughout labor.

Desange delivered safely and without complications. She expressed her deep appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of the midwives.

“I truly thank the midwives for their courage, dedication, and the care they gave us. Even at night, with many of us arriving at once, they welcomed us with professionalism and kindness,” she said.

While Desange felt well and ready to return home with her baby, she had to stay at the facility to complete the required 24-hour postnatal care, a vital follow-up to ensure both mother and child are healthy before discharge.

“I feel okay and ready to go home, but I’m waiting for the postnatal check-up to be sure everything is fine for both of us,” she added with a smile.

Her experience is a testament to the dedication of the Bigogwe staff and the growing confidence the community places in the facility, a place where mothers know they will be cared for with compassion, even in the busiest hours of the night.
