New Project: Adolescent Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights Rwamagana District, Eastern Province

Going hand in hand with Maternal and Child Health, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRH&R) is an essential service at the primary health care level.

Ensuring that young people have information and access to sexual health services such as screening, treatment and contraception, as well as comprehensive information about reproductive rights, is essential in reducing adolescent pregnancies, HIV and STI incidence. This in turn impacts upon development and educational opportunities for young people. Health Builders is now working with health centers in Rwamagana district to create youth-friendly ASRH&R corners and train nurses to provide accessible services there such as education and screening. This innovative approach encourages health seeking behaviour, reduces stigma and improve health outcomes.
