Our board had to alter its annual multi-day meeting in Rwanda to a virtual format, but it still accomplished all of our objectives.
While we missed the opportunity to have the board visit the health centers and meet more staff in person, we held a board and staff meeting at the end of the last day to summarize some of the decisions and discussions that took place in the multi-day Zoom meeting.
Among the news items they shared were some personnel announcements. Nancy Reynolds, Board Chair, announced the following changes:
Michel Musilikare was given the new title of Executive Director.
Michel had been named Country Director back in 2017 when he was moved into his current role and Health Builders has had great success since then with him at the helm. While Michel’s role will be unchanged, the new title is in recognition of the terrific results he has delivered and reflects the Board’s confidence in his leadership.
Immaculate Kyarisiima was promoted to the new position of Director of Programs and Development.
Immaculate has been coordinating most of our ongoing projects and will now supervise all the Health Management Advisors and Specialists. In addition, the promotion is recognizing the work Immaculate has done on the Development front. Her time spent in this area and her work on grant proposals has been, and will continue to be, invaluable in these challenging times.
Bertin Gakombe will be taking on a new role as Rwamagana Senior Health Management Advisor.
In that role, he will ensure that our biggest district, with its many pilot projects, is taken to a new level through his expertise and commitment. Rwamagana is often the district that we use to showcase our work to visitors and donors, and Bertin will be a terrific resource to help do this.
Nancy Reynolds shared that she had every confidence that these three leaders would continue to deliver fabulous results for Health Builders and help increase its impact in Rwanda.
The board was then able to congratulate the staff virtually and celebrate with the whole team in Kigali.
