August and September were challenging because of the increase in COVID-19 cases in Rwanda. There was a dramatic spike in the number of reported cases in August. The Rwandan government has imposed additional limitations to control the spread of the disease. For example, no public transport has been allowed between Kigali and provinces for several weeks. Health Builders staff also have some limitations on visiting health centers, so this has forced us to postpone some of our activities. As part of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Team, we are helping in tracking suspected cases, raising community awareness and enforcing prevention measures in the health centers and the surrounding communities. To protect our staff and their families, we encouraged them to work from their homes and only come to the office when necessary.
