Please join the Health Builders family in congratulating Dr. Daniel Ngamije, one of our Board members, appointed Rwanda Minister of Health on February 26, 2020.
Before taking this position, Dr. Ngamije had been working with the World Health Organization (WHO) as the National Program Officer in Rwanda in charge of Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases. He has more than 23 years of experience both as a physician and a public health specialist. His areas of expertise include health systems strengthening, reproductive health and infectious diseases.
This is not Dr. Ngamije’s first time in the Ministry of Health; he has previously served there for ten years as Program Coordinator of different projects funded by international organizations, one of them being the Global Fund. He also has experience as a physician and health programs manager at district and regional levels. He has been on the Board of Health Builders since June 2018 and, in his capacity as a public health specialist in Rwanda, he advised us on how best to support the Ministry of Health and how to most effectively approach health systems strengthening in Rwanda.
Dr. Ngamije has progressively advanced through his career in the health sector which gives us confidence that he knows well the challenges at all the levels of public health and is equipped with many years of experience and knowledge to tackle those challenges. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Dr. Ngamije for his invaluable contributions to the Board and we look forward to working with him in his new capacity as Minister of Health.
Congratulations Honorable Dr. Daniel Ngamije!
