Technology
Simple and affordable technologies save lives.
THE CHALLENGE
Too many of the world's poor still lack access to basic life-saving resources like clean water or medical oxygen. Our work is to get those technologies to the communities that need them most.
OUR STRATEGY
After asking communities about their greatest needs, we purchase and install technological interventions that address those needs, are simple to operate and inexpensive to maintain.
UNIQUE DESIGN
We seek to do more than give technological solutions.
We help local health centers build revenue-generating systems around those technologies, allowing them to improve community health, free of charge.
FOLLOW-UP
We provide technical assistance and on-site repair services as needed, for years after our technologies have been installed
IMPACT
Safe Water
We have installed high-volume water purification systems in 10 communities across Rwanda, providing clean water for over 250,000 people as a result.
Medical Oxygen
We have installed Rwanda's first commercial-sized oxygen plant outside of Kigali, which is also the second plant in the country.
To ensure maximal effectiveness, we also trained local staff in how to operate the plant and established a decentralized distribution system for oxygen sales across Rwanda.
As a result, Musanze District Hospital, can now produce its own oxygen and sell it for affordable prices, creating access to life saving treatments for over 2 million people.
COST
Our technology projects have been completely free to the communities they serve, thanks to our partnerships with various organizations including the GE Foundation, UNICEF, the Center for Global Safe Water at Emory University, the Rwandan Ministry of Health and others.
